WHO WE ARE

We are the ‘community quarterback’ working closely with residents to bring about lasting change in Gulfton & Sharpstown.

We use a holistic model, based on Purpose Built Communities, that focuses on four pillars:

Education

economic vitality

health & wellness

mixed-income housing

OUR MANIFESTO

The world we strive for is one where our work is no longer needed. A world where families no longer have to struggle against the barriers that stand in the way of their success.

But in the world we live in today, families are working tirelessly every day to make ends meet—and they face challenges that make it harder to realize their potential.

This is why we exist.
We connect the dots.
We break down the barriers.
We ease the transitions.
We simplify the process.
We listen to the stories.
We build relationships.
We make possibilities more achievable.
We multiply the impact.

And we do all of this together—Because, at the end of the day, it’s about the community at large, not our individual interests.

It’s about our families having the same opportunities as everyone else. It’s about our students becoming the bright future we all hope for. It’s about our community unlocking its full potential.

This is about working with our community to thrive—not just survive.

THEORY OF CHANGE

We believe that to truly solve poverty and inequity, it’s not enough to focus on schools alone—we must also build vibrant, supportive communities with families at the heart. Our approach is based on the belief that when residents, schools, and organizations work together, we can unlock a wider network of resources to meet the needs of both students and families.

This collaborative effort not only strengthens individual families, but also creates a stronger, more resilient community for everyone.

WHAT WE DO

We like to say we bust silos and connect dots.’ What that really means is we:

  • Engage the community and accelerate its pathway to prosperity
  • Leverage resources across and between partners
  • Serve as a single point of accountability for funders
  • Drive initiatives to ensure that they are aligned with the neighborhood and are sustainable
  • Act as convener for neighborhood discussions
  • Act as catalyst for neighborhood action
  • Track and improve key community indicators
