CONNECT SOUTH APARTMENTS

In direct response to the Gulfton Complete Community Action Plan which calls for “300 new affordable housing units by 2023”, the Connect project team undertook a master planning process to create a sustainable redesign of the defacto “hub of Gulfton” that would meet the unique needs of this multi-cultural, multi-generational community. This thoughtfully integrated housing plan, located within a neighborhood context and with amenities close at hand, is the type of inclusive urban mixed-use development that the City and its residents are looking for in Houston.

Phase I will be a 4-story mixed-use building with 77 residential units above enclosed parking and approximately 7,000 square feet of commercial space for the future Gulfton Textile Lab and Business Entrepreneurship Center. The building, called Connect High Star Apartments, located at the corner of High Star Drive and Hillcroft Street will provide opportunities for all income levels, including unrestricted market rate units with 69 of the units affordable to families earning 30%-80% of the area median income. Expected completion is Spring 2025.
