SHOPS @ Connect HighStar

Connect Community’s Textile Lab & Entrepreneurship Center will open in Spring 2025. This 9,000-square-foot facility will attract Houstonians from all over the city, offering sewing, craft, computer, soft goods manufacturing,  and small business classes, and hosting special events like pop-up markets,  parties, and gallery exhibitions. The Center will also feature micro retail spaces known as the Shops @ Connect HighStar where visitors can browse and buy goods and services from local small businesses.

The six micro retail spaces are between 130-250 square feet each. A micro retail space can be leased for 3 months, with options to renew for an additional 3 months (up to 6 months total). This short residency allows early stage and existing businesses the opportunity to develop their brick and mortar concepts. Pricing for the micro retail spaces ranges from $250-$500/month. A deposit of one months’ rent is required.

Those who become the tenants of the micro retails spaces will receive the  benefit of small business coaching from experienced entrepreneurs, discounts on classes and events, and chances to expand their marketing reach. The aim is that entrepreneurs will be better equipped to scale their businesses by the end of their lease at the Shops @ Connect HighStar. 

Connect Community is looking for business owners who are collaborative, supportive, and committed to fostering the community’s success. Priority will be given to unique businesses that reflect the neighborhood’s diversity and offer valuable goods and services to both Gulfton residents and visitors from other parts of the city.

INTERESTED IN APPLYING TO RENT A MICRO-RETAIL SPACE AT CONNECT HIGHSTAR?

Applications are accepted from Sept. 23 – Nov 11, 2024. Micro-retail leases are granted as space becomes available.  After submitting the Google Form, you can anticipate hearing back from us within 6-8 weeks.  As a part of the review process, all applicants will have an in-person interview with a Business Development Advisor.
